Sea turtles have been traveling in our oceans for more than 100 million years, they are considered the oldest living reptiles in the world and they have even survived the dinosaur era!
These beautiful animals that live in our Planet, can live more than 100 years, we can find them in different sizes and amazing colors.
Of 100 eggs that a turtle lays, only 1 of them makes them to an adult age, this is because they have a lot of danger in the oceans since being in an egg until they reach their sexual maturity when they’re 10 to 15 years old, such as; predators, human beings, contamination, fishing and bycatch.
Adult and juvenile turtles mostly live in coastal feeding areas where they feed off seaweeds and a variety of invertebrates when they’re not reproducing, once they’re mature, they’ll travel looking for the perfect place with the best water temperature to have reproduce and lay their eggs.
They have a cultural importance in a lot of places of the world as well as a high tourist value, when you travel and see one do not get close to it! They get scared and uncomfortable, just admire it from a safe distance, like this you will be able to protect them.
The turtle is considered to be a symbol of a long life, why is this? Well, easy! They can live more than 100 years.
